Volunteers
A great big thank you to all the volunteer Star Staff who helped make Starcropolis a stellar event! The magic wouldn’t have happened without you!!
Thank you for your interest in helping make Starcropolis a success! We are looking for super stars (age 18+) to help with this special event happening atop Mill Mountain! Volunteer shifts range from 2.5 to 4 hours. Please feel free to sign up for more than one assignment or shift!
Event Set Up Assignments (Star Staff t-shirt, snacks, and water will be provided.)
- Saturday Set Up (9/03): main tent chairs, satellite stage chairs, tables for small tents (some opportunity to sit for breaks). Volunteers may attend the event on Sunday 9/04 for free, but will need to purchase a meal at the event ($20). Standing room for main event will be offered as space permits.
- Sunday Set Up 1st Shift (9/04): volunteer check-in station, food tent tables and chairs, put up fencing, tables and chairs for smaller tents, decorations (sidewalk stars, signs, pennants), signage. (Some opportunity to sit for breaks.) Box lunch or dinner and water will be provided. Volunteers may attend the event for free. Standing room for main event will be offered as space permits.
- Sunday Set Up (9/04) 2nd Shift: volunteer check-in station, food tent tables and chairs, put up fencing, tables and chairs for smaller tents, decorations (sidewalk stars, signs, pennants), signage, set out trash boxes with liners, reset chairs (if necessary) and check for moisture, tablecloths, garage trolley stop station. (Some opportunity to sit for breaks.) Box lunch or dinner, and water will be provided. Volunteers may attend the event for free. Standing room for main event will be offered as space permits.
Event Volunteer Assignments on Sunday 9/04 (Star Staff tshirt, box lunch or dinner, and water will be provided. Volunteers may attend the event for free. Standing room for main event will be offered as space permits.):
- Staff Box Office Tents: greet the public, check tickets, distribute lanyards and programs. (mostly sitting)
- General Volunteer: miscellaneous set up tasks for first shift; help with crowd control and help break down food tent for second shift. (some opportunity to sit for breaks)
- Staff Volunteer Station in the Discovery Center: assist with checking in volunteers, distributing food/water, answering questions. (some sitting)
- Trash Team: monitor trash receptacles and empty into dumpster, second shift will also help break down food tent. (some opportunity to sit for breaks)
Garage Site Volunteer Assignments on Sunday 9/04 (Star Staff tshirt, box lunch or dinner, and water will be provided. Volunteers may attend the event for free. Standing room for main event will be offered as space permits.):
- Parking Attendant: directing cars and crowd control at Elmwood Park Garage on Williamson Road (some opportunity to sit for breaks)
- Trolley Team: check tickets as patrons get on trolleys at Elmwood Park Garage to go to event site. (some opportunity to sit for breaks)

- Log into the online Volunteer Information Center where you can sign up for volunteer openings for your preferred assignment. (Information and instructions will be sent by email after you submit your application.)
VERY IMPORTANT! You must log into the online Volunteer Information Center and sign up for a volunteer opening after completing the Starcropolis Volunteer Application!
